In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.

The adventure centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
